Helene
Dutch National Ballet is back in the studio in limited groups. Here is an article from Dance Europa that describes the Company's approach: https://www.danceeurope.net/dutch-national-ballet-back-class/ High-level points: Groups needed to come up with their own protocols and submit them for government approval HNB leveraged various experts, including major sports federations (because that's where the money is) Staggered classes with time and participant limits The overall National plan is to increase the number of people who can be in the theater, including performers and backstage. The earliest phase number are too low to be relevant They're looking at new works in case enough people can be present to perform in public by Fall There are plans and backup plans and backup-to-backup plans

volcanohunter
The National Ballet of Canada has posted a little video about how its dancers are returning to class, even if performances aren't scheduled for many months yet. Quote Dancers and staff pre-screened before leaving their homes Temperature checks and fitness questionnaire upon arrival Socially distanced classes with max. four dancers per studio Limited rehearsals of solos and pas de deux only with dancers living together Each dancer trains in their own quadrant with their own barre Studios cleaned and sanitized between classes and rehearsals Face masks required in all common areas and may be temporarily removed to participate in class or rehearsal Athletic therapist available onsite Dancers depart immediately after completing class or rehearsal If only four dancers are allowed into a studio at a time, it must take quite a while to get to everyone. pherank
OK, I've found this short statement in one of my SFB official e-mails: We are proud of the film, Dance of Dreams, which premiered last week, and wish you could have joined our fellow San Francisco Ballet dancers Ellen Rose Hummel and Daniel Deivison-Oliveira as they gave a special glimpse behind-the-lens with choreographers Dwight Rhoden and Christopher Wheeldon. As a valued member of our SF Ballet family, we wanted to share this conversation with you.We are also excited to report that the dancers are returning to the studio for socially distanced company class and look forward to returning to the stage the moment it is safe to do so. Definitely time to get back to work. Thanks Buddy. They do manage to get a good sound out of all the individual remote audio recordings. It's still amazing to me that this is possible. Relating to this task: there's a brief SFB Orchestra video that shows conductor Martin West's software setup for "150 tracks recorded remotely by more than 60 musicians from the SF Ballet Orchestra" on Bernard Herrmann's "Scène d'Amour" from Vertigo - https://www.instagram.com/p/CDjwRH_D1C-/
pherank
Maybe SFB read my earlier posting. 😉 The official announcement came today: SF Ballet dancers joyously returned to our studios last week for socially distanced company classes. Read about the months of research and planning that made this possible, and what the new normal is for company class.
