Houston Ballet cancels the rest of its season.

Cancelling the rest of the season means audiences won't be seeing the mixed rep Forged in Houston program (that had been rescheduled for May 21-31). Romeo & Juliet choreographed by Houston Ballet Artistic Director Stanton Welch was to have been seen June 4-14.

An obituary for Sir John Tooley, who died last month at age 95.

Working alongside choreographer Kenneth MacMillan, his stewardship of the Royal Ballet spanned a golden period of sustained achievements in the 1970s, when the company could boast dancers of the calibre of Margot Fonteyn, Rudolf Nureyev, Antoinette Sibley and Anthony Dowell.

Choreographer and teacher John Todd has died at age 47.

Todd also worked extensively in the ballet world, performing with The Hungarian State Ballet, Houston Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Fort Worth Ballet and Hartford Ballet. He was also well-known on Broadway, taking on numerous roles in such plays as “Movin’ Out” and in “The Phantom of the Opera.”
