Julia Farron, RIP

Recommended Posts

Julia Farron has died at age 96.

Pépé the Mexican terrier was an eye-catching character in A Wedding Bouquet, a ballet contrived in 1937 by the choreographer Frederick Ashton and the composer and socialite Lord Berners from a surreal play by Berners’s house guest Gertrude Stein.

Julia Farron began her career with the Vic-Wells Ballet Company in the 1930s. When war broke out they would help to boost morale around the country. “We were all young and it was exciting; as, indeed, were the performances in makeshift and bombed theatres in the war,” she once told The Times.
