Misa Kuranaga leaving Boston Ballet

Misa Kuranaga announced on Instagram and Facebook that she will be leaving Boston Ballet at the end of the season. Last performances will be Cinderella on 6/7 fri 7:30 and Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No.2 on 6/8 sat 7:30. Next steps to be announced later.

Maybe she'll come back to SFB. She was well received at the gala this year.

Misa will be missed.  There are other departures as well.  Kathleen Combes is retiring and taking over the Executive Directorship of Festival Ballet in Rhode Island.  Dalay Parrondo, a long-time soloist is retiring.  Corina Gill is retiring.  Rachele Buriassi is leaving.  (These were all announced on their instagrams or on Boston's instagram.)

Roddy Doble (formerly with ABT before joining BB) is also leaving, for Les Grand Ballets Canadiens of Montreal as a principal dancer.

Several of her fellow dancers commented on one of Misa’s IG posts, saying things like best of luck in SF, SF is lucky to have you, Best of luck at SFB.

This is exciting news.  I just watched her on the Boston Ballet website, and she is beautiful and moves like quicksilver.  Angelo Greco had posted on FB that he was looking forward to dancing with her on Sept. 7 at the Monterrey International Ballet Gala 2019.  I hope to see them in Romeo and Juliet together next season.
