It would appear that a handful of Mariinsky dancers are on tour in Budapest performing 'Cinderella', though I could be wrong. This seems to be a more low-key tour.

Cinderella -- Alexei Ratmansky version.

Featuring -- Maria Shirinkina / Nadezhda Batoeva, Alexander Sergeev / Vladimir Shklyarov, Ekaterina Kondaurova, Mariinsky Orchestra

Nadezhda Batoeva I’m sure can make this work. Having just seen a side of Maria Shirinkina that I never saw before, a vibrant, personality plus entertainer in Alexander Sergeev’s At The Wrong Time, she could also shine. Yekaterina Kondaurova, who I assume will be the Stepmother, should be a hoot. Alexander Sergeev as the Prince, perfect. Vladimir Shklyarov with his virtuosity and character, also just fine.

This could be a treat for Budapest. This was the city that opened the charms of Eastern Europe to me, followed by Prague and fifteen visits to St. Petersburg. Also, my grandmother was born here.  😊

Indeed, what a treat! I'd love to travel to Budapest one day! Definitely on my bucket list.

This Cinderella is greatly indebted to Diana Vishneva (along with Igor Kolb, her life-support system), Alina Somova and  now Renata Shakirova and a few similar artists for its success at the Mariinsky.

Here again is why I think that Maria Shirinkina can do just fine as well. Start at 1:40:10 and ignore the pop that she and Alexei Timofeyev (I always enjoy seeing him) take at each other.

Valery Gergiev is conducting, which can normally be an interesting ‘challenge’ for the dancers. Still, you’re guaranteed some brilliant music and the dancers just might give him a well deserved, “See, that!”

How charming! Their chemistry is stunning, and they're both great actors! I've always loved Shirinkina, and kept an eye on Timofeyev.
