nanushka
Simkin "will retain his position at Ballet Theater [sic] but will be based in Berlin": https://nyti.ms/2xin6ek Edited September 8, 2017 by nanushka Link to comment
Fleurfairy
Naturally, this happens just as the partnership with he and Sarah Lane was gaining real traction. I hope he's around for whole seasons at Ballet Theatre unlike Bolle and Hallberg who have multiple commitments elsewhere as well. Link to comment
AB'sMom
He is still scheduled to do Nutcracker in Costa Mesa, CA in December. He's partnered with Misty Copeland. Sarah Lane is partnered with Herman Cornejo. Link to comment

nanushka
Simkin's phrasing in his IG post doesn't sound promising for his continuing on with much of a substantial role at ABT. Makes me wonder what his real status will be. Edited September 8, 2017 by nanushka Link to comment
NinaFan
I am so upset about Simkin's departure. Since this is effective for 2018/2019, I am keeping my fingers crossed that he dances a full 2018 MET season. I was looking at the Staatballett Berlin website, and it looks like their spring seasons overlap, so I don't know how much he would/could be available to dance at ABT. Link to comment

I will miss that from him most of all. Link to comment

Like others have said, I doubt he'll perform much w/ ABT going forward (he'll probably be more like a guest artist during the Met season). His acting, partnering, and artistry has improved so much and I have loved watching him grow from a pyro-technique wiz kid into a more complete artist. But, I suppose the silver lining is that it'll open up opportunities for others, most likely Arron Scott and Gabe Shayer. Link to comment
CharlieH
Not until September 2018. Good! So he may still be a part of Ratmansky's Harlequinade reconstruction (Harlequin or Pierrot). Link to comment
