The Managing Director of La Scala, Alexander Pereira, has appointed Fréderic Olivieri, currently head of the theatre’s dance academy, to fill the post until February of next year. A replacement choreographer for Bigonzetti's new Coppelia will be announced shortly. Edited October 8, 2016 by kbarber Link to comment

JMcN
I hope Mr Bigonzetti recovers well from his serious back problem that has caused his withdrawal from the job. Link to comment

naomikage
There was a report on Italian TV yesterday that Roberto Bolle is interested in the job. He was a candidate along with Laurent Hilaire when Vaziev resigned. Link to comment

Oh well I am uncertain that the mess was Mr. Kobberg's fault or if it was the new AD's fault. Seems like a lot of "nativism" going on. If all ballet companies operated that way, Petipa would never have been hired at the Maryinsky, nor Balanchine at Ballet Society / NYCB, etc.. If Romania is to be proud of its artists who achieve acclaim abroad then it must also welcome artists from abroad to make art in Romania. Edited October 9, 2016 by Jayne Link to comment

miliosr
I would have to imagine that Bolle would be the frontrunner for the position. But there's that part of me that would still like to see Hilaire grab the prize. Link to comment
sandik
Well, what is the goal for the company -- what do they need to do to strengthen themselves and maintain whatever makes them distinctive? (or, what do we think here that they should do!) And who might be the best choice to make that happen? Link to comment
