Helene Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Bridget Breiner has posted an appeal for a bone marrow donor for Joe Bunn, a dancer with her company Ballett im Revier, who is suffering from leukemia: https://www.facebook.com/bridget.breiner/posts/1133516813333051?pnref=story I hope he finds a match.
sandik Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Fingers are crossed -- treatment for leukemia has really improved over the last several years.
Helene Posted January 3, 2016 Author Posted January 3, 2016 From an email from Bridget Breiner: I know Joe is very moved by the energy and care that has been pouring out on his behalf. He misses dancing so much, and it means a lot to him that the dance world in particular is paying attention and wanting to help him. It means a lot to me too. Thank you! Since her network is primarily in Europe, it would be a great help if people shared her Facebook link, which contains links to bone marrow registries in many countries, on social media: https://www.facebook...051?pnref=story It takes one match.
MJ Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 Be the Match! bethematch.org I get an email every year confirming my address. The test is a simple swab of the cheek. Do it!
mmded Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 I am very saddened to say that Joe Bunn lost his battle with leukemia last week leaving a wife and young son. He wished to have his body returned to the U.S. for burial beside his grandmother. Bridget Breiner and others have launched a fundraising campaign to raise the funds to help fulfil his wishes. I hope I am not breaking rules by posting a link to a site for him. https://www.youcaring.com/spela-and-aiden-bunn-626851 Joe touched so many lives and will be missed by so many both professionally and personally.
Helene Posted August 20, 2016 Author Posted August 20, 2016 That is very sad news. A link to the campaign to support his wishes is welcome. My condolences to his family and friends. Rest in peace, Mr. Bunn.
mmded Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 There has been an update on the fundraising site for anyone considering donating.
diane Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 (edited) Ah, thanks. That does make sense, mmded. Tragic times; I hope they do get enough money together to meaningfully help. -d- Edited August 21, 2016 by diane
