glimpse, by way of this rehearsal photo in plain light on the limited stage of Royal Festival Hall, of Sizova from London, 1970 when, among other appearances, she performed the COPPELIA Pas de Deux with Mikhail Baryshnikov, who was then making his British debut.

Catching up on news and am very saddened to read about Alla Sizova's death. Washington ballet lovers will never forget her wonderful contributions to the Kirov Academy-DC, teaching future stars such as Michelle Wiles and Hee Seo. It was sad when she suddenly had to leave DC & return to Petersburg in 2004.

May she rest in peace.

The film I've seen shows a wonderful dancer. RIP. An obituary for Sizova in The Daily Telegraph.

Alla Sizova, the Soviet ballerina, who has died in St Petersburg aged 75, sprang to instant fame at the age of 18 when performing with her classmate Rudolf Nureyev in a school graduation film . Performing the Le Corsaire duet, the teenage Nureyev prowled and leapt like a hungry panther and Sizova was dubbed “the flying Sizova” as she soared into jumps that seemed to hover mid-air. The two prodigies were immediately hired into the Kirov Ballet as soloists, skipping the usual corps de ballet start.
