kfw
In the Must-see Ballets thread, DanielBenton wrote Apollo (originally called Apollon Musagete) because it can be considered the direct successor to The Sleeping Beauty. That reminded me of the symposium held at the National Gallery of Art in Washington in conjunction with their Ballet Russes exhibition last year. The six parts of the symposium can be found here: Diaghilev Symposium: Worlds of Art: Diaghilev and the Ballets Russes: Diaghilev, a Russian Nationalist in the West, Part 1 Diaghilev Symposium: Worlds of Art: Diaghilev and the Ballets Russes: Diaghilev and the Courts: Culture Clashes and Lawsuits during the First American Tour of the Ballets Russes, Part 2 Diaghilev Symposium: Myth in Motion—Decoration, Dance, and Sources of Russian Modernism, Part 3 Diaghilev Symposium: The Ballets Russes and Russia, Part 4 Diaghilev Symposium: Poulenc’s House Party, Part 5 Diaghilev Symposium: Panel Discussion , Part 6 Link to comment
