Swanilda8
Thank you for the news- well deserved all around. And I'm excited that I'll hopefully get to see Precious Adams on stage. Link to comment
Tara
Among the new joiners is Precious Adams, who trained at the Bolshoi school. Oh this is wonderful and well deserved news! I am so pleased for Miss Adams, who unlike her fellow "American's in Russia" students she stayed completely focused on her training rather than garnering media attention. I am very happy she is being properly rewarded for her efforts. I look forward to watching her career. Link to comment
Helene
There are more Americans studying in Russia that you'd think, because you've never heard of them, or you don't actively "Friend" them. A dancer, no matter how immersed in social media and self-promotion, doesn't earn a Red Diploma with her thumbs. Link to comment
Tapfan
I'm surprised Adams went to ENB. In an interview after the Prix de Lausanne, she expressed an interest in NBC, SFB and the Dutch National Ballet. She never indicated that ENB was on her radar. I know that some folks think I care about Misty Copeland only. But if other black ballerinas had higher profiles, I'd follow their careers as well. I hope Adams does well and that her skill as a dancer doesn't become a source of controversy. Link to comment
meunier fan
Never underestimate the influential capacity of a certain Ms. Rojo. Link to comment
California
Any ENB experts here? Fernanda Oliveira, a lead principal since 2009 and company member since 2000, is also listed as a new corps member at Colorado Ballet for the 2014-15 season. Could there be two dancers with such a distinctive name? I don't see anything on the ENB site that she is retiring or otherwise leaving.http://www.ballet.org.uk/the-company/dancers/fernanda-oliveira/http://www.coloradoballet.org/company-dancers/fernanda-oliveiraEDIT: I just answered my own question: A dancer with the same name has been in the Studio Company of Washington Ballet. An impressive name for a young dancer!http://www.washingtonballet.org/sitewide-bios/oliviera-fernanda Edited August 3, 2014 by California Link to comment
