Natalia
I just watched the Russian Kultura TV channel, which reported favourably on tonight's big company premiere of Pierre Lacotte's MARCO SPADA, to the Auber score. Huge triumphs for Hallberg in the title role, Obraztsova as his daughter Anzhela, and Smirnova as the aristocratic Marquise. Tonight's Kultura report is not yet on YouTube but I found this earlier report on the preparations. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lk44bV57nuc Congratulations to Lacotte and to all of the wonderful artists in tonight's premiere performance! Link to comment
volcanohunter
How could they be reporting on great triumphs before the performance was over? Kultura's evening news program went on air 30 minutes after the performance began. Link to comment
Cygnet
This is wonderful Natalia, thank you for the link! Brava to all the artists involved in Lacotte's "Marco Spada!" Also, kudos to the Bolshoi Ballet and the Bolshoi Theatre for soldiering on so well during this difficult time. Link to comment
Natalia
Volcano, there are nine hours' difference now between Moscow & EST. The report came just as the ballet ended, showing footage of the final dress reahearsal...so Hallberg, Obraztsova et al interviewed, as were Lacotte & Thesmar, from their seats in the auditorium. There was also a quick look at Filin wearing his dark glasses, talking with some of the dancers backstage. Imagine, say, NBC or CNN having reporters staked-out on the plaza in Lincoln Center as the curtain goes down on a Ratmansky premiere! Except that CNN is not Kultura. Link to comment
volcanohunter
In fairness to Kultura, I've since watched the piece, and it offered no assessment whatever of the ballet or the performances. It could not have, since the segment was prepared in advance and began airing at 10 am Moscow time. Just the standard background information, dress rehearsal footage and sound bites from the dress rehearsal, about the challenges of playing characters who are both aristocrats and bandits. Because, of course, aristocrats never steal. http://tvkultura.ru/video/show/brand_id/19725/episode_id/694119/video_id/694119 Link to comment
Natalia
This is not what I saw...with the reporter staked out in front of the theater. But the dress rehearsal films are the same. Link to comment
Helene
Here's a 2:42 video of Lacotte rehearsing Obraztsova in a solo and then Obraztsova and Hallberg. Link to comment
