vipa Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 Here's the full cast of the Japan tour. I will be seeing Program C on 23rd. http://www.nycballet.com/NYCB/media/NYCBMediaLibrary/PDFs/Press/Casting/NYCB-Casting-Japan-102113-102713.pdf I'm sure you'll have a great time. All in all I'm surprised to see Kowroski cast in Swan Lake. She didn't do it in NY.
kfw Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 All in all I'm surprised to see Kowroski cast in Swan Lake. She didn't do it in NY. She did it in D.C. in March, although for once I was less than thrilled with her performance. I'm sure she can be great in the role.
abatt Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 Maria does the one act Balanchine SL, but she has retired the full length SL from her rep.
naomikage Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 Thank you for your thoughts. I was also surprised when I saw Maria Kowroski in Swan Lake but considered myself lucky. It is a fabulous program. Will post some views after I saw the performance.

naomikage Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Some changes were added to the cast and here's the update. http://nycb2013.jp/dl/casting_en.pdf So Kowroski did not dance Swan Lake and Richlen replaced her, she was beautiful too. But we were lucky enough to see Ashley Bouder in 4T with such sparkle. I enjoyed the performance very much. The Monday performance was completely sold out and other dates were also 99% full. The company looked very strong and seemed much better than they came 4 years ago. The women were brilliant. Today there were 2 performances so it must have been tough for the dancers but especially Symphony in C was brilliant, Megan Fairchild, Sara Mearns,Erica Pereira and Tyler Peck, the female leads were so gorgeous and musically wonderful. Also 5 curtain calls to the Symphony in C cast on Wednesday, which is the first in the company's history.
pherank Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 This looks like a great set of programs. You all were very lucky to have seen these ballets - we do not get to see NYCB do this kind of program in the western U.S.A.
