sf_herminator
Looking at the dates, I wonder how this impacts or if it will impact the Stern Grove performance. They are scheduled to perform on Sunday 7/28. The festival in Paris is 7/8-7/26. Guess we'll have to wait to see the actual performance dates for Paris. Link to comment

But an exciting exhibition of dance, to be sure. My guess is that the works shown will be many of the same ones to be performed in NY at State Theatre. Link to comment

I think you've misread the date: SFB is going to Paris next year, 2014. So it's likely this year's Stern Grove performance won't be suffering from jet lag! Link to comment

Paul Parish
It does look juicy, doesn't it? Good Lord! Just t o see Maelstrom again --i have SUCH vivid memories of that , I LONG to see that again. And Ratmansky's Piano Concerto? It's all stuff they dance well; one could carp and wish they'd do Concerto barocco [which I could see every day and never get tired of saying I don't get to see it enough], but then I could wish I were a rich man and hop over to Paris to see it. If I could I sure would. It's a wonderfully varied program. Link to comment

pherank
Simone Messmer is cast in two ballets - verrrrrrrry interesting. And Froustey is taking on Within the Golden Hour - that has to be outside her comfort zone. Bon courage! Link to comment
Mathilde K
Simone Messmer is cast in two ballets - verrrrrrrry interesting. The opening night gala and the last show ... looks rather strange. In comparison, Rubén Martín Cintas, in spite of having retired, will go on stage seven times. Link to comment
PeggyR
I'm glad to see Hansuke Yamamoto getting good exposure. He doesn't get the opportunity for major principal roles; I'd really like to see how he would handle Basilio or Franz. Maybe I see something in him that others don't, but it's been a mystery to me why he is repeatedly passed over for promotion in favor of someone as bland and uninteresting as Luke Ingham. Mathilde K
But only with Kochetkova he will really have a single opportunity to show his partnering skills. Link to comment
pherank
I like Yamamoto's dancing as well. I have to guess that the issue is with his partnering work - it's not enough to look great in solo work, at this type of company all the men need to partner well. There aren't enough dancers to employ 'specialists' - everyone has to be multitasking at a high level. Which is actually what the company will attemp to show off in this program. Link to comment
