rg
this scan of a publicity photo has been described by the owner of the vintage print (the scan comes from a recent reprint) as a "candid moment" from 1950, with George Balanchine on stage, working Sadler's Wells dancer Beryl Grey. if the date is correct, the moment presumably documents a rehearsal of Balanchine's BALLET IMPERIAL which the choreographer staged for the British company in '50.
