San Francisco Ballet just posted a link on its Facebook Page to a blog post announcing Elana Altman's retirement, Altman's brief, gracious statement, and news that she'll be studying in Italy for a master's degree at University of Gastronomic Sciences.

And now Courtney Elizabeth leaves, too! That adds up to three principals and three soloists.

I'm very curious as to who will be promoted in my favourite company.

Anyone who followed Altman on Twitter during her time at SFB knows she Tweeted far more about food than about dancing.

She’s started a blog with some marvelous photos of the area in Italy where she’s studying at the Università degli Studi di Scienze Gastronomiche.

Following her sojourn in Italy, the former (and much missed) SFB soloist is back in her hometown of San Francisco, working at a restaurant as a hostess and ... butcher’s assistant.
