Marina Semyonova's is datelined Moscow, and documents a dancer not seen in the US. Tamara Toumanova's photos note her presence in the States, on stage and screen. Link to comment

Not that Toumanova could jump, but that a press photographer in the 30s could capture the sense of controlled abandon that jumps like this evoke.
