Osipova at Royal Ballet

For next season we get a new director at the RB, Kevin O'Hare, and I suspect he will have a different management style. Let's hope he can build bridges with the prodigal Polunin and perhaps lure Putrov back too, he's certainly needed.

To invite Ratmansky to choreograph and now Osipova to dance means Mr O' Hare really has his finger on the pulse of what is happening in the ballet world, after all those years of dreariness within the Royal Ballet could things be about to change?

Would a new director have a lot of input the first season he is there? I am just asking out of curiosity. I know when Peter Gelb took over the Metropolitan Opera his first complete season (planned mainly under his watch) was a couple of years later. He did have some input and made some changes to the schedule his first season there, but basically the bulk of the season was already planned in advance. Maybe ballet works differently. I am just asking out of curiosity.

Well, at least he has his finger on the pulse of what is happening at ABT.wink1.gif

Most of the ballet season will have been planned before Kevin O'Hare was appointed, but I imagine he will have had a major say in who would replace Rojo in her scheduled Swan Lake performances.

Well, O'Hare was named as new director over a year ago and as the general programming for next season looks somewhat different from what we have come to expect, the general consensus here in London is that O'Hare has had a hand in it and will hit the ground running so to speak.
