kfw
Looks juicy -- I envy you the Episodes in particular! Me too. And also seeing Magnicaballi in both Episodes and in Stravinsky Violin Concerto! Link to comment
Helene
While I understand why Agon is considered one of the greatest ballets ever, Episodes is my favorite of the Balanchine black-and-white ballets. Ballet Arizona is doing the standard post-Graham version and doesn't include the Paul Taylor solo, which NYCB revived with Peter Frame in 1986-7. Link to comment
Drew
Wish Atlanta Ballet would consider an all Balanchine program these days--would not even have to be quite such a sophisticated one and I'd be happy. Link to comment

Ballet Arizona is doing the standard post-Graham version and doesn't include the Paul Taylor solo, which NYCB revived with Peter Frame in 1986-7. Perhaps it's just that I've seen Agon so many times and Episodes only three, but I prefer it as well. And Stravinsky Violin Concerto next to that. All three scores are big favorites. NYCB did not include the Taylor solo when they brought Episodes to the Kennedy Center last year. Link to comment
sandik
I've only seen Episodes on tape, so can't say I like it better or worse, but I am very, very fond of Agon. And Apollo. Link to comment
Helene
I saw the Friday evening and Saturday matinee performances, but I wasn't able to stay for Sunday. Ballet Arizona posted this photo to its Facebook page, and it looks like Sunday's cast. I see flowers and people in street clothes, but I don't recognize the dancer holding the bouquet. At season end, there are usually presentations and extra bows for dancers leaving the company: were there any this year? Also, the company announced that Jessica Phillips, who rocked the "Five Pieces" section of "Episodes" with Shea Johnson, and Sarah Chisholm were promoted to Corps de Ballet. to them both!
