Year-end Performances for ABT Studio Co. and JKO School

YEAR-END PERFORMANCES SCHEDULED FOR

AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE’S STUDIO COMPANY AND

JACQUELINE KENNEDY ONASSIS SCHOOL

FRIDAY, MAY 4 AND SATURDAY, MAY 5

AT MICHAEL SCHIMMEL CENTER FOR THE ARTS AT PACE UNIVERSITY

Year-end performances for American Ballet Theatre’s Studio Company and the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis (JKO) School are scheduled for Friday, May 4 and Saturday, May 5 at Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts at Pace University. The performances mark the culmination of the Studio Company’s 2011-2012 season.

American Ballet Theatre’s Studio Company performance on Friday, May 4 at 7:30pm will include George Balanchine’s Tarantella, excerpts from Agnes de Mille’s Broadway works, Anton Dolin’s Variations for Four, Susan Jaffe’s We Insist and Antony Tudor’s Soirée Musicale. The show will be part of the inaugural “Pace Presents” program, a new annual series of performing and visual arts programs.

The Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School will perform Saturday, May 5 at 2pm and 7:30pm. Students will perform original choreography from faculty members Harriet Clark, Jessica Lang, Raymond Lukens and Kate Lydon. Members of the ABT Studio Company will also perform August Bournonville’s Napoli with selected students from the JKO School at these performances.

American Ballet Theatre’s Studio Company is comprised of 14 dancers of outstanding potential aged 16-20. In addition to a rigorous schedule of classes including ballet technique, pointe, variations, partnering, modern, and dance history, the Studio Company gains performance experience through residencies, cultural exchanges and regional touring.

The Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at American Ballet Theatre is a pre-professional ballet training program for students ages 11-18. The JKO School utilizes the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum, which combines scientific principles with elements from

the French, Italian and Russian schools of training. Admission is by audition only.

Under the Artistic Direction of American Ballet Theatre Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School Principal Franco De Vita and ABT Studio Company Coordinator Kate Lydon, the ABT Studio Company and JKO School incorporate a faculty of ABT alumni, members of ABT’s Artistic Staff and renowned teachers, including Kevin McKenzie, Franco De Vita, Harriet Clark, Olga Dvorovenko, Susan Jaffe, Susan Jones, Irina Kolpakova, Jessica Lang, Clinton Luckett, Raymond Lukens, Kate Lydon, Clarice Marshall, Nancy Raffa, Lupe Serrano and Martine van Hamel.
