rg Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 scan of publicity shot of the "Swan Lake" scene Balanchine choreographed for I WAS AN ADVENTURESS (Twentieth-Century Fox/Darryl F. Zanuck, 1940 movie), with Zorina's "Swan Queen" at the front and Lew Christensen's "Prince" in the background.
Bonnette Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Thank you, rg. Those who get Turner Classic Movies on television are blessed, as this movie is occasionally shown - never miss it!
Mel Johnson Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 It's a very well-put-together photograph, showing the dancers AND the very beautiful set by Tchelitchew off to good advantage. Balanchine apparently sold the artist on the idea, and his design looks wonderful, especially in black-and-white. I especially like the conference with the orchestra conductor (Balanchine himself).
