sandik Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 Rummaging around online and found this -- Chelsea Adomaitis has joined the Monte Carlo company!
seattle_dancer Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 Thank you Sandik! I was just thinking about Chelsea and wondered what happened to her. There are certain roles that I distinctly remember her in and then I really miss her. Now I hope to see her dance when Les Ballets de Monte Carlo tours just like Noe and Lucien way back when!
sandik Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 I'd be very curious to see her in that repertory.
Helene Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Great interview with Carla Korbes by Michael Breeden and Rebecca King Ferraro for their Conversations on Dance podcast: https://conversationsondancepod.com/2020/01/21/carla-korbes-2019/ It was done at last summer's Vail International Dance Festival.
Helene Posted June 12, 2020 Posted June 12, 2020 Gavin Larsen is teaching in Asheville, NC, and in this Conversations on Dance Podcast episode, she discusses her career and then the challenges of teaching online with Rebecca King Ferraro and Michael Breeden: https://conversationsondancepod.com/2020/05/18/gavin-larsen/ I loved her dancing and was really happy when she returned to the West Coast to dance with Oregon Ballet Theatre, where I got to see her perform featured roles.
Helene Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 In a still conceptual project, Kathryn Morgan wants to start a small group of professional dancers who would partner with schools, and she mentioned Sean Rollofson as someone she'd like to participate. I was happy to hear his name mentioned: I miss his dancing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjdYTvsPpG4&feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR08UhWdvvDlvNe18Iqu0rEHb3VVfUsTGKvqU4EFjueXNNLGH9s-_fXbdPo
Helene Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 PNB just linked an article about Lindsi Dec and Karel Cruz's new studio, the DeCruz Ballet Studio, which they opened in San Antonio this past September. My favorite quote is: Quote “Right now, we are focusing on a professional program where we look at the structure and curriculum of what we have learned and what we were lacking when we were growing up,” said Dec. “We look at what we wished we had.” I remember Dec saying in a Q&A that being in Seattle, she missed the sun.. She'll certainly get as much sun as she wants in San Antonio!
Helene Posted September 12, 2021 Posted September 12, 2021 From Links, an article on Ballet Tucson, where Margaret Mullin is Associate Artistic Director: The company is presenting works by Kiyon (Gaines) Ross -- A Piece in P-I-E-C-E-S in the opening program in October and No Holds Barre'd in the closer in April -- and a new work by current PNB dancer Amanda Morgan in January. https://ballettucson.org/performances-and-tickets/
Helene Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 This recent article in Pointe Magazine features five dancers for whom the pandemic changed the course of their careers. Two are former PNB dancers Steven Loch and Jahna Franziskonis, and one if former PNBS Professional Division dancers, Kyle Davis, who joined Ballet West II upon graduation and became a Ballet West company member. I was sorely disappointed when he wasn't asked to join PNB, and I'm glad that he was featured here.
sandik Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 A friend of a friend was in Monte Carlo and saw both Jerome and Laura Tisserand in Maillot's production of Faust. Jerome Tisserand was Faust in one cast, and Laura Tisserand was Death in a second cast.
sandik Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 And Patricia Barker is retiring from the Royal New Zealand Ballet. It looks like she'll be heading back towards Seattle, since she's joining the board of Whim Whi'm.
