bingham
Thanks Marga for the info . Too bad the Canadian and US Juniors did not make the cut. No Russians in the list? That seem like the first time.
Natalia
Brooklyn Mack is doing great! Like bingham, I'm a bit surprised that Russians have been eliminated, especially the Second Soloist of the Mariinsky, Philip Styopin, who has recently danced leading roles, such as James in Sylphide. Goes to show you that anybody can have an off night.

Canary
Is it just me, or are Asians the majority group at ballet competitions now? Most of the competitions lately seem to be dominated by Koreans, Chinese etc. Perhaps competitions are the only way dancers from these countries can progress. Wallaceh1
Is it just me, or are Asians the majority group at ballet competitions now? Most of the competitions lately seem to be dominated by Koreans, Chinese etc. Perhaps competitions are the only way dancers from these countries can progress. Asian dancers dominated the USAIBC in Jackson this year too. Conversations with a number of people there seem to bring out the fact that a great deal of effort by schools in Korea, Japan and China is helping the students understand the meaning and feelings of the story they're telling and the dancers seem to respond well to this concept. They understand that there's so much more than just technique. Also it's interesting to see that if a Senior Male competitor from Korea wins a Gold or Silver medal at some competitions he is relieved of his military obligation.
