Dale Posted August 15, 2009 Share Posted August 15, 2009 News release: ANNE BASS’S NEW FILM DANCING ACROSS BORDERS TO BE SCREENED AT JACOB’S PILLOW DANCE FESTIVAL FREE EVENT ON AUGUST 22 What: On a trip to Cambodia in January 2000, filmmaker Anne Bass came across a sixteen-year-old boy who moved her immensely with his natural charm and grace as a dancer. A longtime devotee of the world of dance, Bass felt compelled to give this young boy the opportunity to leave his home and follow a dream that he could not yet have fully imagined. Dancing Across Borders tells the triumphant tale of Sokvannara (Sy) Sar, who travels to the United States to study at the School of American Ballet before joining Pacific Northwest Ballet under the direction of Peter Boal. Cost: FREE When: As part of the weekly PillowTalk series at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, this 88-minute film, which has only previously been seen on the film festival circuit, will be screened Saturday, August 22, at 4pm.
