remembrance of Tomotake Nakamura

Recommended Posts

A few months ago the ballet/modern dancer, teacher and choreographer Tomotake Nakamura passed away. He had a distinguished dance career in Japan, danced with the Slavenska-Franklin company when it toured there in the 1950's, choreographed for Japanese television productions, and for many years had an influential studio in Tokyo.

One of his former students has written a fascinating remembrance of his life and work in dance (about 1600 words, with stories about Jacques d'Amboise, Alexandra Danilova, Fredric Franklin and other great dancers Nakamura encountered, illustrated with several photographs) and we wonder if anyone can suggest where we might submit it for publication. Dance Magazine used to occasionally publish pieces of this length but no longer does. Any suggestions very much appreciated.

Also, we would be delighted to hear from anyone who worked with Nakamura or has photographs or other material about him.
