The program, described as Béjart's last work, is more like a greatest hits collection, is not yet available in North America, though it hit the French market this month.

Wished CBC joined the dance... They used to broadcast ballet...

Unfortunately, the CBC disbanded its performing arts unit a couple of years ago. After years of progressively feebler programming that kept shrinking until it was reduced to one hour a week, four months out the year at a broadcast time that no one could remember, they just shut the thing down. Radio-Canada discontinued Les Beaux Dimanches years ago. Some of the stuff the CBC produced still turns up on CBC Bold ("where all the cancelled CBC shows go").

Like so many channels before it, Bravo lost its veneer as an arts channel years ago, and in the case of Artv it happened in record time. Arts programs on the Canadian version of TV5 have become extremely rare. That leaves only TFO and Knowledge Network, provincial educational channels, showing arts programming regularly, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will continue. But not surprisingly it's nearly all imported content. The chances of Canadian ballet or dancers being filmed these days is miniscule. :(

If the CBC wants to dedicate itself primarily to broadcasting Hockey Night in Canada, that's its business. But I don't see why it should receive a government subsidy to do it.
