aurora
Just noticed that City Ballet is down-sizing its Spring Season from nine to eight weeks:Important Dates for Ticket BuyersTicket buyers will want to note the following dates: ... April 28 - June 21, 2009 Spring Season (In 2008: April 29 - June 29. In 2007: April 24 - June 24.) Why? aren't there renovations to the theater forthcoming? I know I read it was to seriously curtail the opera seasons, perhaps that is the reason for the downsizing of nycb's season as well? Link to comment
carbro
The renovations -- or at least part of them -- are underway. Sign on NYST's locked doors say, essentially, "Come back in October." Maybe the construction is doing its best to avoid inconveniencing both the resident companies and the audience by splitting into multiple phases over more than one summer. If so, if the loss of a week is temporary, it's a good thing. And if so,my annoyance at the current detours around the plaza is tempered. Link to comment
