matt-LC
Hey all, My name is Matthew, and I wanted to let you all know about the exciting events taking place at the Lincoln Center Festival this summer, July 2 to July 27. This summer, the Lincoln Center Festival (www.lincolncenter.org/lcfestival) returns for its 13th season, hosting a diverse assortment of ethnic arts events, including opera, poetry, dance, and music. From July 2 to July 27, artists from all around the world will be in New York to share their talents with you. The Festival kicks off with a unique twist on Euripides's classic Greek tragedy, The Bacchae, featuring Tony Award-winning Scottish actor Alan Cumming as the androgynous god of wine, Dionysus. For those of you interested in a thespian session of poetry, Liam Neeson, Barry McGovern, and Ralph Fiennes invite you to observe some of the late Irish poet Samuel Beckett?s finest work. Artists Laurie Anderson, Goran Bregovic, Damon Albarn and an ensemble of other performers will also grace the Festival with their eclectic selection of music, ranging from Balkan folk music to American Southern soul. Have a ball with the Royal Ballet of Flanders, who proudly presents William Forsythe?s masterpiece, Impressing the Czar, replete with both classical and contemporary music. Lincoln Center is also honored to present Bernd Alois Zimmermann's opera, Die Soldaten, at the Park Avenue Armory. Hosting a gargantuan 110-piece orchestra and movable seating unit, this German production will certainly pit you in a visceral setting that will tickle every one of your senses. For more information regarding the Festival, please visit: http://www.lincolncenter.org/lcfestival, where you can find dates, times, and ticket information, as well as a Media Lounge for previews and background information for all the participating artists. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Also, if you could please forward this message to your friends, family, and neighbors, I would really appreciate it. I hope to see you all at the Lincoln Center Festival this July! Link to comment

Helene
Royal Ballet of Flanders is performing William Forsythe's "Impressing the Czar" on July 17, 18, 19, and 20. I can't vouch for the work itself, but it's a fine company. http://www.lincolncenter.org/search_result...?showcode=30809 Link to comment
Leigh Witchel
I intend to go - I've only seen a few full-evening Forsythe pieces, and they're generally quite partisan affairs. Many of us have seen Part 2 of Impressing the Czar as "In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated" I believe the other parts have more theater and less dance in them. Link to comment
