rg
Estelle (or others familiar with Paris Opera Ballet traditions) may correct my recollection, but my sense of this still from Jean-Benoit Levy's 1938 LA MORT DU CYGNE (released in the States as BALLERINA) shows the Janine Charrat as the dance pupil visiting her ballerina idol, Yvette Chauvire, whom she wanted for her "petite mere," a Paris Opera Ballet tradition along the lines of what seems to have been a godmother. this print has '1938' written in pencil on the back and wording pegged to a November showing at NYC's (now gone) Little Carnegie Cinema.
