Recommended Posts

On Sunday April 20, 2008, Oregon Ballet Foundation in conjunction with sponsors and ballet schools from across the Pacific Northwest will attempt to break the Guinness Word Record for the largest ballet class a la barre (at the barre).

The current world record was set on February 25, 2006 in Pretoria, South Africa with 551 participants. We hope to attract 1,000 participants from Oregon, Washington, and Northern California. The event will be held at 2:00 PM at MacArthur Court on the Campus of the University of Oregon, in Eugene, Oregon. Check-in for dancers and on-site registration starts at 12:30 PM. The class will be led by teachers from dance schools throughout the Pacific Northwest. We encourage all dancers and first-timers alike to participate. Come in leotards and tights, or workout clothes and socks. The event is open to all ages, and no dance experience is required--just a desire to have fun and break a record. (Note: if you are bringing younger children, they should be able to stand at the barre for at least one hour and follow instructions.)
