Hans
I'm curious as to what has become of her. The few available videos are very beautiful, and previous reports of her dancing praise her very well, but I have not seen her name on cast lists when the Kirov tours. Does she perform more in St. Petersburg? Is she still with the Kirov? What happened to her? Link to comment
vrsfanatic
She was still listed the other day on the Mariinsky website and there were a few new photos of soloists. My guess is she is still there. Lucky people of St. Petersburg! Link to comment
chrisk217
She was supposed to dance Chopiniana with Pavlenko on a September tour in Greece but about a month ago was substituted by Ostreikovskaya. A lot of other dancers were changed in the latest cast list so I wouldn't read anything in the cast change. Link to comment
Marc Haegeman
She is still there allright. Maya Dumchenko is one of the many sad examples of artistic neglect at the Mariinsky. The usual pattern: first they push you, then they dump you. She was gradually left out of major tours, premieres etc. On top of that she was injured for a long time and made some personal decisions which in my view haven't improved her situation in the company. But yes, occasionally, you can still catch her in a St. Petersburg performance. Link to comment
nysusan
She danced at least one Juliet during the last Kirov engagement at the Kennedy center. Link to comment
Hans
That is good to hear! I will search for some reviews. How unfortunate that she is not cast more often. Link to comment
