perky
Photos for the 1st week of Romeo + Juliet are up. That costume for Jock Soto is absolutely horrible. Moderator's note: Direct link. Edited May 9, 2007 by carbro To add direct link for this week. Link to comment
Klavier
Photos for the 1st week of Romeo + Juliet are up. That costume for Jock Soto is absolutely horrible. By concensus thus far, the outfit for Joaquin De Luz (Tybalt) is winning that particular contest. Link to comment
drb
LOVES Have I got that right, Mr. Kirkeby? But for those beautiful dancers, And especially, thanks for those photos of each of the R + J pairs, and for giving us large pictures! Link to comment
carbro
I was immediately struck by the beauty of Erica's left hand here. It was certainly consistent with her wonderful use of hands in the Swan Lake video. She may well become a dancer known for (among other gifts) eloquent hands. Link to comment
KayDenmark
How exciting to see so many young, fresh dancers in major roles. I think this production is noteable for that reason alone. Link to comment
BW
And it's amazing how those photos can be improved when you use iPhoto, for example. Link to comment
SanderO
Do you recall the colors used in the Dick Tracey film of a few years ago... Kirkeby's use of color recalls this effort. Of course Dick Tracy was also a comic book interpreted in film... and the strong hues recalled the pages of the comics. I think this staging has that comic book look. What say you? Link to comment
bart
Thick, squiggly black lines seem to be turning into a major Danish export to NYC. Gottllieb got it right when he called the colors "rancid" -- their garishness is like Koolaid which has spoiled. Link to comment
scherzo
...........I actually quite like the costumes........ Link to comment
carbro
Not in the FRC essay, but you can find a smallish photo of the Wedding scene (Hubbe, Hyltin, Fairchild, and Pazcoguin) -->here. Link to comment
carbro
Three new photos, all from the ballroom scene, all featuring the Hyltin-Fairchild cast. Link to comment
Stanley
new pictures are up. Fantastic one of Apollo, looks like it was posed. Link to comment
carbro
New pics offer treats for fans of Kowroski, who is shown in three Robbins works: Dances at a Gathering, and with Neal in both I'm Old Fashioned and In G Major. And what a shot of Mearns assemble-ing in Walpurgisnacht! Link to comment
carbro
Nine photos this week , including more treats for Mearns fans. See her in Serenade and Dances at a Gathering. I especially like the latter. Link to comment
carbro
If you haven't yet seen Wheeldon's new The Nightingale and the Rose, this week's photos give three moments. Also two photos of SAB students (Les Gentilhommes and Serenade), and one of Serenade with Hanna, Kowrosky, Kistler and Bouder. Link to comment
oberon
Does anyone know the name of the dancer on the right in the GENTILHOMMES photo...the Hispanic boy who looks a little like Bujones? Link to comment
Leigh Witchel
Haven't yet seen the photo, but it sounds like you are talking about Javier Ubell. Link to comment
oberon
Hmmm...nobody by that name was listed in the programme that day, although he may have subbed. And they don't announce corps-level substitutions. Link to comment
carbro
Javier Ubell has straight, shiny black hair and does not resemble Bujones as much as he does Angel Corella. Link to comment
sz
Does anyone know the name of the dancer on the right in the GENTILHOMMES photo...the....boy who looks a little like Bujones? That good-looking, tallish, young man looks like Matthew Dowsett (on the far right of the picture). And, yes, he is very handsome.... Link to comment
Bill
The Serenade shots are outstanding. Link to comment
Abby918
That good-looking, tallish, young man is Matthew Dowsett (on the far right of the picture). And, yes, he is very handsome.... Actually, I believe that is Joe Hernandez in the photo on the right...not Matt. Link to comment
oberon
Thanks, Abby. A really nice dancer, and I bet we'll be seeing more of him. Link to comment
