Globetrotter
I was grazing the SF Ballet website and logged into the pictures of the company artists. Either the website is screwed up or two of the dancers have been promoted. Rachel Viselli and Sarah Van Patten are listed as Principles, but there is nothing in the new & press section regarding this. Anybody know anything? Link to comment
Helene
Indeed, they have been promoted: Rachel Viselli "Joined in 1999. Promoted to soloist in 2004. Promoted to principal in 2007." Sarah van Patten "Joined as a soloist in 2002. Promoted to principal dancer in 2007. " Nothing yet on the Press Releases page. Link to comment
BalletNut
I'm both surprised and not surprised. Surprised it happened now, mid-season (Tomasson usually waits until later in the season to promote people), but not surprised that it happened to these two, who've been doing a lot of principal roles lately. It will be interesting to see how they develop in their careers. Link to comment
sf_herminator
Here is the press release regarding the promotions from the website: http://www.sfballet.org/about/newspress/pr...asp?id=10193070 Congratulations to Sarah and Rachel!!!! Also, if you subscribe to the podcasts (Artist Spotlight, Meet the Artist) there is a new Artist Spotlight. It is an interview with Nutnaree Pipit-Suksun. drb
Thank you! A wonderful podcast with Nutnaree Pipit-Suksun, the discovery of last summer's Lincoln Center engagement. Congrats and appreciation to the interviewer for pronouncing her name. Ommi says she's most looking forward to dancing the adagio movement of Mr. B's Symphony in C later this season. WOW!
