canbelto
I prefer bare legs to semi-sheer dark tights, like those in Western Symphony and many ballets costumed in the last couple of decades. Like Ramze in Pharoah's Daughter? Ugh, hated those brown tights and brown shoes. Link to comment
Hans
Well, let's not go overboard with historical accuracy. "Historically", I have yet to see a real swan in tights (or a tutu, for that matter), but I like my dancing swans in tights . To nitpick a bit, we never actually see Odette as a swan--when she's onstage, it's always in human form. Link to comment
carbro
Picking more nits: She is a swan until she lands from her saut de chat (first) entrance. Siegfried has seen her in flight, but drops his bow when he senses something strange about her. This is her "human" time. But as Act II comes to a close, dawn approaches and Rothbart draws her away from Siegfried. The change in O's port de bras indicates her reversion to a swan. Or at least, that's how I see it. Hans
But regardless, she's probably not going to put on tights just to land from a jump. Link to comment
