jllaney
There was a wonderful program on the documentury channel on Sunday about Arum Khachaturian. It may well have been mentioned here before but it's worth noting for me because of a ten minute interview with Vasiliev about Spartacus and his insights into it and the composer. Also some nifty footage of Gayanne on film that I'd never seen before. It is worth checking out if your a fan of Khachaturian. Link to comment
Natalia
You've titled this thread 'Kachaturian DVD.' Is the Documentary Channel offering DVDs of the program? If so, how/where may we buy it? Thanks for your insights. Link to comment

drb
From VAI's site: ...The film is about the life of a composer creating in the darkness of a tragic era. Like most Soviet citizens, Khachaturian hid a complex private life behind a mask of Communist loyalty....Musical segments include excerpts from Spartacus and Gayne ballets, the Violin Concerto and as a DVD bonus Mstislav Rostropovich in a complete performance of the Concerto- Rhapsody for Cello and Orchestra ...State Orchestra of the USSR/ Aram Khachaturian....133 min. MakarovaFan
The Gayane footage is wonderful. Does anyone know which ballet company dances it and who the leading ballerina is? Link to comment
