Maureen Stapleton, an Oscar-winning actress who created a gallery of pugnacious but vulnerable heroines on Broadway, in films and on television and who put an indelible stamp on some of Tennessee Williams's most memorable characters, died today in Lenox, Mass., said her daughter, Katherine Bambery. And I wonder if the list is even longer, the stage credits look like Broadway and she may have put in a good amount of time on the boards in other US and foreign cities.
