glebb Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 (edited) Is the orange just a rare fruit reserved only for royal functions or is there more meaning? Edited March 11, 2006 by glebb
Mel Johnson Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 It was a sort of special treat, reserved for special people at special occasions, but in the Prokofiev score, it's also an "inside joke", as the music even quotes his opera Love for Three Oranges.
glebb Posted March 12, 2006 Author Posted March 12, 2006 Sort of like 'A morning without Orange Juice is like a day without sunshine."
glebb Posted July 1, 2006 Author Posted July 1, 2006 One thing is for sure. Learning this duet causes one's neck to be sore!
