chrisk217
It's about a year since the BBC broadcasted the "Ashton at 100" program. Does anybody know if there are plans to issue this as a DVD? I'd love to see it. Link to comment
rg
i know nothing definite or conclusive, but the British seem much better at eventually releasing the BBC programs intially sent out as telecasts. this happened with the Coppelia and the Firebird released not that long ago. if memory serves, plans to release the ashton celebration telecasts were noted when the tv program was being prepared. but as noted i know nothing more specific. british members of BT could perhaps provide more firm information. i have seen the telecast - it was likely even written about here - and it contains not only the performances of the time but also well put together featurettes in between the ballets with informed narrators, active ballet masters and mistresses involved, to say nothing of welcome historic footage as background to the current performances. we can hope for a DVD, maybe even w/ extras.
