Dale Posted March 22, 2005 Author Share Posted March 22, 2005 ABT STUDIO COMPANY CELEBRATES 10TH ANNIVERSARY AT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER, APRIL 20 & 21 World Premieres from Brian Reeder, Jessica Lang and Jessamyn Lawrence and Special Performances by Studio Company Alumni American Ballet Theatre’s Studio Company will celebrate its 10th Anniversary with two performances at Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz at Lincoln Center, April 20 and 21 at 8 P.M. Both evenings will feature World Premieres from choreographers Brian Reeder, Jessica Lang, and Jessamyn Lawrence, a member of the 2005 ABT Studio Company. A special gala performance on April 21 will be highlighted by special appearances from Studio Company alumni. Brian Reeder, a former dancer with American Ballet Theatre, will premiere two companion pieces on Wednesday, April 20. The first is a pas de trois set to music by Pablo de Sarasate while the second, a work for four couples, is set to music by Lowell Liebermann. Both pieces feature costumes by Michael Bottari and Ronald Case with lighting by Brian Sciarra. Reeder’s new ballet is his fourth work for the ABT Studio Company. The World Premiere of a new work by Jessica Lang will feature 31 dancers from both the ABT Studio Company and the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at American Ballet Theatre. Lang’s new piece, her second for the ABT Studio Company, features a score by Polish composer Zbigniew Preisner, with costumes by Elena Commendader and lighting by Brian Sciarra. some thousand million hundred more bright worlds, a new work by Jessamyn Lawrence, will also have its World Premiere on April 20. Lawrence’s new ballet, a work for four dancers, is set to Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in G Flat Major by Antonio Vivaldi and Violin Concerto in A Minor by Johann Sebastian Bach. A member of the 2005 ABT Studio Company, Lawrence trained at Pasadena Dance Theatre, Pacific Northwest Ballet School and San Francisco Ballet School. She received the Regional Dance America/Pacific National Choreography Award in 2004. A gala performance on Thursday, April 21 will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the ABT Studio Company. The program will feature special appearances by Studio Company alumni, including Laura Hidalgo and Danny Tidwell in Robert Hill’s Revelry, Michele Wiles in the “Rose Adagio” from The Sleeping Beauty, Craig Salstein and Misty Copeland in George Balanchine’s Tarantella, and Herman Cornejo in Michel Fokine’s Le Spectre de la Rose with special guest, former ABT principal dancer and Studio Company alumna, Susan Jaffe. The ABT Studio Company gala, co-chaired by Patricia Hagan and Gage Bush Englund, will be hosted by John Meehan, Artistic Director of the ABT Studio Company. Jazz at Lincoln Center’s new home, Frederick P. Rose Hall, is located on Broadway at 60th Street in New York City.
