Solor
OK EVERYONE....I want to clear up a few things about Christopher Seminars, for those who dont know. First, Id like to say that its great that he puts out rare ballet music and makes it available. However, the CDs that he sells are copies of other real recordings that are long out of print (most of them anyway), and (for some reason) he credits the cover literature to different orchestras and conductors, when the recordings (most of which I own myself) are totally NOT by them. For example, his "La Bayadere" CD that he has available is really the English Chamber Orch. conducted by Bonynge, and is credited to some orchestra (I havnt looked) I never heard of. If u compare the track listing on the site, its the EXACT same as the real one u can buy! I think he does this tomake hard-to-find music more available to us dancers, and, do to copy-right laws (though I dont think the desendants of Drigo or Minkus are gonna pop out of the wood work) he changes he literature. JUST LETTIN Y'ALL KNOW! By the way, do they have decendants? Link to comment
Mel Johnson
Yes, Solor, some of us know that. I also know who Robert Christopher is. (Don't look for any major company alumni, he didn't dance under that name.) He is a very nice man, and I won't say anything against him. However, the practice of bootleg tapes/discs is not really a very nice thing to do. Minkus does have descendants in Austria. Not sure about Drigo. Link to comment
