The repertory for the company's week in Washington has been announced by the Kennedy Center:

March 2 & 6 at 7:30 p.m.; March 5 at 1:30 p.m.

I’m Old Fashioned (Robbins/Gould)

March 3 at 7:30 p.m.; March 6 at 1:30 p.m.

Glass Pieces (Robbins/Glass)

Thou Swell (Martins/Rodgers, arr. Kelly)

Stars and Stripes (Balanchine/Sousa, arr. Kay)

March 4 & 5 at 7:30 p.m.

Divertimento No. 15 (Balanchine/Mozart)

Polyphonia (Wheeldon/Ligeti)

West Side Story Suite (Robbins/Bernstein, Sondheim)

Thanks, Ari. Wow. That really fits in with the Kennedy Center's "theme" this year of the 1940s, doesn't it? (Actually, I'm glad we're getting more of a cross-sampling of what New York gets, so that's not a complaint. But why have a Seasons Theme and then not choose repertory to match it? ABT is giving us the 1920s and the 1840s/90s a la 2005.)

They kind of spoiled it last trip by performing Tschaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 2 and Concerto Barocco -- 1940s ballets that would have been perfect for this season. For the second year in a row, D.C. is picking up rep. already around from the Winter season. But they could have picked Orpheus, which was made in 1948 and being performed this Winter.
