He made the other tenors of his time look more or less like sacks of potatoes when they tried to do what he did. One entrance in Trovatore, Corelli was accustomed to "pounce" on. When Sandor Konya tried it, he landed so hard that a setpiece of "rock" on the stage toppled over with a bang. Zubin Mehta, who was conducting the performance, turned around to the front-row audience and announced, "OK, Errol Flynn he ain't!" Link to comment
