  1. RUSSIAN BALLET STARS COMING TO MICHIGAN ONE NIGHT ONLY! TICKETS ON SALE NOW!!! Less than 500 performance tickets and 50 dinner tickets remain. Stars of Russian Ballet Gala performance featuring a spectacular cast of international ballet stars including guest artists of the famed Mariinsky Theatre, St. Petersburg, Russia. This marvelous gala performance will feature a collection of beloved ballet pieces including Paquita, Giselle, Le Corsaire, Don Quixote and more. The performance will also be the premier of Ballet Russe Detroit, a new professional ballet company serving southeast Michigan. The dancers of Ballet Russe will be performing as Corps de Ballet. Ballet Russe Corps de Ballet is comprised of Michigan’s very own talented ballet dancers. The Stars of Russian Ballet Gala is part of the annual International Ballet Festival of Michigan, which also includes a special Vaganova Ballet Summer Intensive program for area ballet students ages 8 and older. The Vaganova Intensive will be held in Novi. The performance will take place at the historic Lydia Mendelssohn Theatre in Ann Arbor on August 28th. The performance begins at 6:00pm, and will be followed by an elegant post-performance celebratory sit down dinner reception with the professional dancers and silent auction in the Koessler Room of the Michigan League building directly above the theatre. Tickets for the Gala and the celebratory dinner reception go on sale July 1st. Tickets to the performance are $35.00 and $25.00, reserved seating. Tickets to the dinner reception are $45.00 and must be purchased by July 19th. Tickets to the dinner reception are very limited. I came across this video of her in a private ballet class at the age of 10. she was AMAZING! does anyone have any ideas as to why she stopped dancing after Monte Carlo / Vienna and has done only figure skating ever since? here's the video that so impressed me--> Vera Nemtchinova & Katherine Healy Aurora Variation 1979
  4. When my local dance academy was performing Nutcracker this year, both of our guest soloist brought their own costumes. He had a very nice outfit (from Kirov Ballet), but she had the most tattered dress for the parts before the PDD. I know she was borrowing that one from her company. The tutu looked very new and professional, though, in the end/PDD.
