  1. I find it annoying when the audience claps durring difficult moves like fouettes. They're hard enough to while concentrating, but when it is thrown off by appplause, it's distracting. Its alright to clap AFTER the dancer is finished them, but not durring. And the most obvioius pet peeve of all CELL PHONES!! Is it so difficult to turn off the phone before the show starts? And if you absolutly have to leave it on, then at least put it on vibrate and take it outside when it rings. It'a a nuisance to both the dancers and the rest of the audience.
  2. I think that Xiao Nan Yu deserves it! I saw her in Toronto a few years ago and thought she was soo beautiful. It's about time!! Good for her!

    Karen Kain

Karen Kain is my most favorite dancer of all time!! She is so wonderful to watch. I agree that its a shame that she is not known world wide. In Canada she is very well known. She had a long successful career here with NBOC! One of her finest performances I'd say is in the ballet done by NBOC on her farewell tour called "The Actress". It's very interesting and she dances it wonderfully!
  4. I agree with the pea guy!!! LOL!!!
  5. For me, dance is a way to release tensions. When I'm stressed or upset, I go to class and feel better by tendues! It's my life and I can't imagine my life without it. Its a way to express emotions without saying a word.
  6. I'm going into grade 12 next year and I need to make some choices of what to do after high school. I was thinking of doing a universtity dance program but would like to stay in Canada. I've heard good things about York University and Simon Fraser. I was wondering if there was anyone out there that are in these programs that could tell me how they are. It woul dbe much appreciated. Thanks
  7. Personally I think that if the choreographer or director wants the dancer to do the foutes, she should work to acheive that. If she has something to work for then she will work hard to do those foutes. If after a few rehersals it looks as though she woun't be able to do then I see nothing wrong with altering the choreography to suite the dancer. There is no sense in putting in a dancer who is not as well suited for the part just because she can do foutes, or denying another deserving dancer that just because she can't.
