What exactly is the story of the Nutty Nutcracker? I Know a lot of people who like it, But I don't know the story of it.

I Love the Nutcracker and each year I audition to be in it. I Usually don't buy tickets to go just because it cost to much for tickets. But I try to catch it when it comes on TV.

I Guess you could say I was in Alice in Wonderland. You see, My school did a "Storybook Ballet." They just had little dances from stories, Like Mickey Mouse, Cinderella and a few others. But one of them was Alice with the Queen of Hearts and her cards. I Played a card. It was a lot of fun to do. Since we were supposed to be strange, We didn't have to worry about turnout and pointing our toes.

I Always thought it would be nice to choregraph a dance to Carol of the Bells.

Did Tchaikovsky come up with The Nutcracker story himself, Or did he get it from a book? And if so, Who wrote the book?

I'm a Liturgical Dancer. Being a Ballerina eally helps because they like you to be graceful. And because I'm a Ballet dancer, I'm graceful. They were just amazed at how high I could rise on demi-pointe! Anyway, The last time we danced was a t a Mass for Sept. 11th.

Jared Matthews went to my school. He's a very talented dancer. I never really knew him, He was several levels ahead of me. But he did come back and guest star in The Nutcracker my school put on. Last I heard, He is now a member of the main company. And he guessed starred with a company in Japan. I Think the performance was the Nutcracker.

Right now I am reading J.R.R Tolkien's "The Fellowship of the Ring." It's very good.

Dancing Frog, Have you ever tried requesting books? Like with a yellow slip or something? Because that is what I do and I get tons.

Well, Why not try ballet books? Because I love Ballet and I also like to read about it!

The one that I liked the best was "Balanchines New Complete Stories of the Great Ballets."

Well *Megs*, The only kind of tutu's I can draw, Are the ones that are stiff. I Can't draw the long fluffy ones either.

I've heard of a Joffrey Ballet of Chicago, And a Joffrey Ballet of New York. Maybe I miss read it, But I could have sworn it said Joffrey ballet of Chicago, And I'm pretty sure it's a Joffrey ballet of New York.

I Found thios book at the Library, While searching for another book. It is basically for anybody. Its called, "Striking a Balance, Dancers talk about Dancing." By Barbera Newman. I Found it very interesting, Though it is a old book, It was written in th 70's. The Dancers she interview include: Felia Doubrovska Serge Lifar Igor Youskevitch Merrill Ashley Christine Sarry Desmond Kelly And More! I Found it very interesting!! That sounded alittle like an Advertisment!!!

Why do all the companies seem to have the same name? I Mean, There are tons of American Ballet Theatres and Joffrey ballets. It seems to play name games in people's heads. Why do they all have the same name? Is there something I'm missing? :confused: [ 08-19-2001: Message edited by: Mel Johnson ]

I Have a question. What do Dancers do when they get the hiccups in the middle of a performance? I Mean, Sometimes it takes awhile before you can get rid of them and you don't want to drink to much water because that will make you have to go to the bathroom during the performance!! So what do you do?

Has anybody heard of Tchaikvosky, Swan Lake, Deluxe Gift Editon? it is 2 CD's paper dolls, And a book about Swan Lake. Well, I Was reading it and it said that they have a Nutcracker one, Does anybody know where I can get one? If this sound confusing, I'm Sorry. :confused:

I Agree with you Dirac, it is easier to draw tutu's than people!

I Like to Draw Dancers alot. I Think it is fun! Especially when I Don't have class, Chores or schoolwork!! Anybody Else? :rolleyes:
