  2. I was lucky enough to attend twice last Sutarday and I'm pretty sure that if you loved the film you will love the ballet as well. I adored it! All, the music, the sets, the costumes, the way José has been able to transmit the poetry of the film on stage and of course the dance! Enjoy and yes, please, let us know Twice--wow! You must have really loved it I'm so glad to hear good things about it and I will certainly write about it once I return. CarolinaM, I'd love to hear more of your impressions as well As I went to Paris only for this event I attended twice on Saturday with two different casts. The first one: Ganio, Ciaravola, Carbone, Pech,... being my preferred one. What I would tell you for the time being is that as the first interval starts, go quickly to find a place with good view to the main staircase and when you hear the first ring, go back quickly to your seat I hope you enjoy the show. This was a challenge and I really think that José has got it

  4. Dear 4mrdncr it's to you to whom we have to be grateful for your commitment to Ángel Corella and ballet in Spain, many, many thanks. Please keep us posted about your progresses. liebs: please note that as far as Corella Ballet Castilla y León next performances, you can visit the company's Calendar still to be completed as they foresse to be in Barcelona in January or February with the Triple Bill we saw in La Granja. Also, maybe you would like to know that at GigMag's current issue there is an article about why classical ballet could (finally) be undergoing a renaissance in Spain thanks to Corella Ballet Castilla y Leon. I hope you will like it
  5. I'll try find out for you and let you know. For the time being there is no info on Corella Ballet website but I'll ask
  6. Hi bingham! I'm sorry I have been very busy these days. It went so, so great!! Not only the principals, which we knew they will be fantastic, Corella, Cornejo, Herrera, Murphy, Almeida, Gatti, etc, etc,... but what a Corps!!! and when one think that they only were working together from April this year, one just can't believe For a more detailed info and for you to see a nice presentation and how they looked like, you can take a look on fotoescena and then just click on links to read. I hope you will like and get an idea on how was it all about. We, of course, are very excited and happy! we only ask for them to have the support they need. As far as for the press, critics have been very good and tickets have been sold out all days, no matter what the cast was. Thank you also to everybody here
  7. In the video in addition to Mrs. Natalia Makarova, Ángel and Carmen Corella we can also see Adiarys Almeida and at the end Natalia Tapia with Iain Mackay. I also put here links to other two bits of this same recording: http://www.elmundo.es/elmundo/2008/08/24/c...1219578214.html http://www.soitu.es/soitu/2008/08/25/infov...003_834682.html I also recognize some well known Corps members, as for instance Cristina Casa whose photos are in our reports in fotoescena. What a exciting event!!
  8. Thank you very much mom2 !!! You are completely right Bart, it was my wish to state dancer names at the bottom of each shot, but I'm not used with DreamWeaver and Jesús (not José ) has not been able to help me much this time, so I thought that The Bayadere coming so soon it was worth to publish the article asap. I will keep on fighting and try to do this as Corella Ballet dancers deserve all our admiration and of course must to be named. Thank you very much carbro for explaining that photos can also be found in Corella Ballet webpage so that people are able to identify them, I can add that the girl signing in Kazumi's interview is Cristina Casa and the other one showing the balloon is Mª José Sales, great dancers and very, very, brave girls. Mrs. Natalia Makarova's photo as Nikiya is courtesy by Corella Ballet as stated at the bottom of the interview, with Jesús copyright for his photos. As you can imagine this is a lot of work load. We are only Jesús and me working in fotoescena, we both have our own jobs out of it and to make the articles, to translate, to publish and so on, is quite hard stuff. But I do not complain at all, it is our pleasure to try to help this company in the only way we are able to. We have always trusted them and after seeing them dance we are completely delighted with our so long for desired company. And yes, more than to comment the performances -I'm not a dance critic and do not pretend to be- I have rather focussed on the need that people, and mainly our government, are aware of the great opportunity for our cultural heritage it is to keep this company and to get it to be the reality as it is planned and was presented February 2007 in Madrid. I also would like to express, once more, my deepest gratitude to Jeanne M. Bosse' for fine-tuning my translation. You are right 4mrdncr, it is thanks to her so kind offer to collaborate with us, that the syntax has improved. It would have taken me a lot of extra time to get it better from my first attempt and I know that I would never have succeeded so well. And also thanks a lot to Kazumi Imasaki. If it has been a pleasure to share with her that so great week-end in La Granja, it has been a gift she allowed us to publish her interview in fotoescena. At the end of the article, when we link the Spanish version, we already state that there are also links to the original interview in English and Japanese. We agreed with her that the Spanish version will have some more Jesús photos while the original has hers, which are so great and self-explanatory about what kind of people this company has, in addition of the great dancers they are, yes great stuff!! Unfortunately we haven't had much time to meet each other 4mrdncr, I hope we will in Madrid. I'm planning to be there for the press release and the dress-rehearsal, but anyway, please, keep us posted as soon as your videotape is available or when you post excerpts of it. What a so great job you are also doing!! To be honest I feel more comfortable here with you, so interested and moved for this great deal of Ángel Corella, than in my own country where out of fotoescena only few media are covering the birth of our amazing company Corella Ballet Castilla León. Thank you very much to BalletTalk and to all of you here
  9. Dear BalletTalker friends, This is to let you know that fotoescena’s article on the Spanish brand new company is on line: Corella Ballet Castilla León Pre-premiere in La Granja We hope you will enjoy it!
  10. Yesterday there was a Gala in La Granja to present the company with authorities and Spanish stars attending. If you want to see how the new company members look like: Corella Ballet dancers at the Company presentation Gala, July 9, 2008 Performances are schedulled for tomorrow and Saturday and I can't wait to be there We'll keep you posted Published in this article in Spanish (Photo by EFE agency)
  11. Thanks Bart, from the very deep of my heart I hope you will be right. Ángel has started, but to keep on running his Company needs funds. He is fighting for this and has experts in his team to get it but it is very difficult and mainly now with this crisis everywhere. But if they know that there is people supporting and encouraging them from many places worldwide this will for sure be a great dosage of stamina And thank you also for your kind words for fotoescena. We also feel alone many times in Spain. But no matter, we know that we are right By the way, would it be possible to change the name of this topic? It was said thet the name of the company would be "Ballet de España" but it is now decided that it will be "Corella Ballet" so maybe we could change, what do you think?
  12. Hi Carmen García, welcome to BalletTalk and thanks, yes I try to get well informed as I have been dreaming of this company for so looong!! Also many thanks to carbro In Spain even if for you it must sound incredible, there is people who only criticize and try to make thinks as much difficult as possible for Ángel and his team. But we at fotoescena are supporting this so wonderful initiative from the very beginning and up to now. So to find people like you that share our illusion and enthusiasm is very nice. Thanks again!! As you say, the official premiere of "Corella Ballet" will be with La Bayadere (Natalia Makarova) at the Teatro Real in Madrid, in September 4, 2008, but already on July 11 and 12, the "Corella Ballet" will perform at La Granja (Segovia) where the Company is set. The program will be “Clear” (Stanton Welch); “Bruch Violín Concerto nº 1 (Clark Tippet) and “In the Upper Room” (Twyla Tharp). Just to inform you that tickets for La Granja will be on sale from next June 24 at La Granja Town Council, Sfera shops and at El corte Inglés at a price: 25-45 €. At el Corte Inglés they can be purchased on-line El Corte Inglés - Tickets or by phone: +34 921 470018 If anybody can come and need any help, please do not hesitate to ask and if we could meet there, as of course I will not miss it, I would be more than happy. For La Bayadere in Madrid, September 2008, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9 & 10 at 20:00 h. tickets will be on sale from July 15. For El Liceu in Barcelona, July 2009, 9, 10 (two shows) & 11 (two shows) Gran Teatre del Liceu will be on sale from July 14 at 09:00 a.m. Ángel Corella will perform on July 9, at 8 pm and on July 11, at 10 pm. Please join me in wishing good luck and long life to the Corella Ballet!! Ángel deserves this!!
  13. You are right, also Carlos López was there. ¡What an amazing young troupe we had at that time! I remember a wonderful Giselle (even if Ángel had already left to join the ABT)
  14. Yes, he did, he was one of that incredible troupe of dancers all at the same time in the company: Angel Corella - ABT Tamara Rojo – Royal Ballet Joaquín de Luz - NYCB Lucía Lacarra – Munich Opera Ballet Ruth Miró – Bejart (now Lyon Opera Ballet, I think) Víctor Jiménez - Bejart (now Lyon Opera Ballet, I think) Ygor Yebra – Free Lance (now at the Bordeaux Opera Ballet) María Giménez – She was dancer at the Ballet Nacional de Cuba Ana Noya – She is still with Víctor Marta Rodríguez Coca – ABT (now back in Spain) Jesús Pastor – ABT (I think) and now back in Spain And maybe I’m still missing some
  15. You are welcome! With pleasure, about her and a little bit more Natalia Tapia: She was principal with Víctor Ullate, she danced the principal role in Edurado Lao’s “Coppelia” when Eri Nakamura (now soloist at “Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montreal”) was injured. Natalia also danced “The Dance of the Hours” of La Giocconda with Ángel at the Teatro Real, but only few days in substitution of Letizia Giuliani. Radev Kirill: Was soloist at the Imperial Russian Ballet. As far as for the corps, I know Mª José Sales and Fernando Bufalá both coming from the English National Ballet where they were Corps and First Artist or Soloist (don’t remember exactly). Also Cristina Casa, who trained at the ABT and danced with the ENB last season in Swan Lake at the London Coliseum. And Yevgen Uzlenkov was also principal with Víctor Ullate, he was “Franz” at Coppelia. If I find out any further info I’ll tell you

  17. Well, it seems that the name will be "Corella Ballet". Thanks for this so good translation Bart, I can add that the official premiere of "Corella Ballet" will be with La Bayadere (Natalia Makarova) at the Teatro Real in Madrid, in September 4, 2008. Although already on July 11 and 12, the "Corella Ballet" will perform at La Granja (Segovia) where the Company is set. The program will be “Clear ” of Stanton Welch; “Bruch Violín Concerto nº 1”, of Clark Tippet and “In the Upper Room”, of Twyla Tharp. If I get the whole press release in English I’ll post it here. Any chance to meet anyone of you in Spain in short? This would for sure be and excellent opportunity to pay us a visit. Remember that the Company is also scheduled at "El Gran Teatre del Liceu" in Barcelona July 2009
  18. The "Corella Ballet" as how it seems it will be named, has sent a Press Release that we have published in fotoescena (just scroll down to see it). I hope it is allowed to link the topic on the forum for you to see the photographs and for those understanding a bit Spanish to be able to read. We are very exicited about and look forward to already see the Company debut at La Granja in July 11 & 12 with “Clear ” of Staton Welch; “Bruch Violín Concerto nº 1” of Clark Tippet and “In the Upper Room” of Twyla Tharp.
  19. Hi! I’m also glad you are still interested in Ballet de España! The full company has started rehearsing and we hope a presentation to the media will be made soon. According to what was said in this article: http://www.brb.org.uk/4351.html one can guess that Lain Mackay and Silvia Jiménez who are leaving Birmingham Ballet to go to Madrid, have joined Angel Corella’s Company as well. As far as tickets for the Teatro Real: no, it is not possible to purchase tickets yet. Usualy in June-July season tickets are on sale and separate tickets are always available 15 days before the premiere, at 10:00 a.m. The Teatro Real web site informing about the purchase of tickets is the following: http://www.teatro-real.com/Information%20a...%20on%20tickets and to finish: Many thanks Bart for your kind words about our web magazine! Any new we would know, any report we would publish I’ll keep BalletTalk posted about
  20. Thanks so much!!!! I've found the thread, read your review and found the link to NY Times. I didn't know neither that the same Barcelona and now Madrid version was also performed in Verona.
  21. I thought that this La Gioconda and its « Dance of the Hours » was also performed at the MET in NY after the Liceu. I know the dancers were the same, Corella and Giuliani but can anyone let me know if it has exactly been the same version as per the opera but mainly per the dance: Choreography, dressing, etc….? Many thanks!
  22. Thanks a lot bart! As the other member of fotoescena's staff (responsible for Marketing, English version, translations and so on and even writing some articles) I have been very proud of you in this forum to appreciate our work. It is not without great efforts that we get to achieve all our articles but we enjoy a lot doing this and we hope our passion is noticed. And of course there always are the gorgeus photographs of Jesús Vallinas the soul of fotoescena. Since the presentation of the "Ballet de España" Angel Corella's Ballet Company last February all our articles are in Spanish and English. If you are interested to go directly to the English version of our magazine, you can do it here http://www.fotoescena.net/08/indexe.html Many, many, thanks for your interest and for your kind words!!

  24. Thank you very much Lynette H In the Spanish press it has been announced that Ángel and a troupe of dancers are going to train in a special room conditioned to rehearsal in a "Parador" the highly appreciated loations all over the Spain (old buildings that the government takes care of because of their art or cultural value and converts into quite luxury hotels). It seems that they are going to tour in Spain up to January when the whole Company will start working, probably in the same place while works in Santa Cecilia Place are underway. For those reading Spanish you can find more info here
  25. Hi afteryouwho and welcome to BalletTalk forum, I'm Spanish and living in Barcelona This video exists for sure as I have seen the ballet, by the Joffrey, on TV (not sure if Canal Clásico or the French Mezzo). If I find where you can get it I'll let you know
