  1. Juliet, Thank you for the clarification on David Dawson's ballet the Grey Area. I was wrong on both counts concerning the name and the choreographer. I loved this work alot and hope that Boston Ballet will perform it again in the future. The Jorma Elo work in which I was thinking about was Plan to B which was a World premiere for Boston Ballet and was the first time in which I had seen his choreography and I do remember the audience response was very enthusiastic. I do believe that the Grey Area ( 2003) and Plan to B ( 2004) both made it onto the Boston Globes Best of Boston Dance list. Thanks Again.
  2. What piece did Jorma Elo set on NYCB at the Diamond project ? I read the review in the New York Times but forgot the name of ballet. I understand that New York audiences were very enthusiastic over it and the reviwer said in which he had not seen an audience respond so favorably in a long time. I saw his ballet the "Grey Room" in which he set on Boston Ballet a few years back and the audience went nuts over it and in fact the Boston Globe named it number one on the Best of Boston in dance for that year. He is definately becoming very well known outside of Boston and I heard in which he is supposed to set one of his works on ABT as well.
  3. Hello, Im very happy to have discovered this great website devoted to the world of ballet. I am a former professional ballet dancer who left the ballet world due to a sustained back injury. I went back to college and received my undergraduate degree in psychology and then went on to receive a MS in Dance/ Movement Therapy from the Pratt Institute in New York. I love the work in which I do as a Dance Therapist and find the work to be imensely gratifying just as much as my days spent in a studio and on the stage. I look forward to contributing to the discussions here and will spread the word pertaining to Ballet Talk to my colleagues as well. Thank You....
  4. Gelsey Kirkland lives in Australia were she teaches and Coaches. She periodically has returned to the States were she has taught at ABT and Broadway Dance Center. I would love to see her move back to the States to take on a more active role with a professional company maybe as an Artistic Director or Ballet Mistress. I rank her as one of the finest ballerinas in which this country has ever produced.
  5. Hello, I am new to this website and very excited to be here. I was looking at Charlize Theron the Academy Award winning actress for " Monster " biography and saw that she started her career out as a ballet dancer in her native south africa and later moved to new york to study at the Joffrey School. Im curious to know if she danced professionally with Joffrey Ballet or Joffrey ll before sustaining a knee injury which ended her ballet career ? All I can say is that she has had one Great career as an actress and I rank her as one of the very best and she is stunningly beautiful as well.
