I attended last night as well - what a great night of dance! Am a visitor to the city and had not seen the company live before, so it was a real treat. Artifact Suite was wonderful, and all that I had hoped it would be (minus the people leaving early of course).

Going tonight for Program 4! How wonderful to be able to go to the ballet on two consecutive nights and see different programs!

Oh My!!

I've been busy the last couple of nights, so didn't watch. Never thought that Ms Palin would be still in the competition over Brandy (or some of the others, for that matter). Marga I "ditto" everything you said.

Oh Marga - I'm so sad you weren't there, you describe things so much better than I do!!! In addition, I did have an extra ticket at the last minute! Argh!!

Dd really liked SFB and SFB/ABT. I enjoyed them of course, but also enjoyed other couples. If you have read Paula Citron's review - we had similar thoughts. Perhaps not so positive about some things, and we definitely observed that the Defile was not rehearsed. Perhaps not at all. Luckily nobody was injured. I'm sure it's difficult when the dancers attending change at moment's notice.

Were there reviews other than Citron's? I haven't seen any yet. Would love to hear what others thought.

Yes, it looks very much like Ballet Girls to me - suspect the footage has been re-worked, to fit cinema format and timing?

This is such very sad news.

I'm sure that CarolinaM and others closer to Barcelona will be able to give us some further information as time goes on; perhaps there is a plan for some sort of action?

I have e family member in the Met - so for me, the best 5 minutes would be in seeing/hearing her perform.

I remember when she chose to pursue opera as a vocation. She had been training in voice of course, doing University and post-graduate work. At some point she had what she described as an "out of body" experience - this level of emotion is what encouraged her to continue with voice over other things. More years later than we would care to acknowledge, she still seems quite content in her choice of career path. I am still looking for that level of fulfillment in my career.............

Well, I had the tv on for the half hour of the CBS news (though not an NYC station). The only arts-related tidbit was Paul Mc Cartney on the roof of the Ed Sullivan Theatre.......did he trump F. Franklin?

I just looked at the Round II information as posted on the website. If I understand correctly, a number of dancers have now been eliminated - including the two my dd knows.

I did a google news search, and found that a couple from Rochester City Ballet is in the competition. That's about all I found though - and the contestants would have started their work today.

Ms. Holmes set some parts of Laurencia for my daughter's ballet school this year.

The students enjoyed working with her a great deal, and the performances I saw were lovely!

I hadn't ever heard of this ballet before; when I looked it up I saw that it was based on the play Fuente Ovejuna? Is this correct? I remember having to read this play many years ago when I was in University and studying in Spain.........
