  1. Just got back home from Ottawa earlier this evening. Will give a brief report for now and a complete one later one. First off everyone who saw any of the performances should consider themselves blessed, because this company and this production, with it's flaws and all, offer the ultimate Swan Lake at the moment. Nowhere alse will you witness the corps of swans possesing Kirov's brand of elegance, beauty and power. Though one had to be lucky to see the "right" principal cast, which unfortunetuly ranged from sublime to "no comment". I was fortunate to see all six performances. The astonishing revelation of seeing Lopatkina on the second night raised the bar to such unprecedent heights , I didn't think it was possible for any one else to uphold. I turned out to be wrong. The next night Vishneva invaded the lake and defied all established boundaries. Will post detailed account of all performances by the weekend, so stay tuned."
  2. Looking forward to attending Swan Lake performances starting on Thursday, 10/26. Will likely see all six shows ( Sunday night has been added and is also sold out ). Are any forum members plan on being in Ottawa for any of the shows? Would be interesting to exchange views and opinions. Hopefully, all the principals scheduled do phisically appear, though Zelensky seems unlikely. At least all the leading ladies made it to the stage in California, so pray Uliana and Diana will dance their scheduled ( or rescheduled performances ).
  3. I am planning to come to Detroit for three of the four days when Kirov performs at the Opera House. I've contacted the Press Office at the theatre AND the Ardani representative for casting information. The latter source has the most "current" information and states as follows: 10/20 - Vishneva/Fadeyev; 10/21 - Novikova/Sarafanov; 10/22M - Osmolkina/Schklyarov; 10/22E - Somova/Fadeyev(?); 10/23M - Novikova/Korsakov. I didn't question the Ardani rep about Vishneva's commitments elsewhere, though the rest of the information is as sound as it gets at the time of this post.
