  1. Hahaha I was thinking the same thing. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, one of the girls was Tarin Wolfe, I think, and looked very very bored. I've never really seen her smile on stage, and even look very unpleasant at times (from the performances I have seen). Maybe this is something that comes along with age?
  2. Yes, and tiny feet for her body.
  3. It is beautiful, Giselle. And well worth the trip to see it.
  4. Wish I could've seen the performance. Marcia has created some of the best dancers out there, she must be proud. Where was Olivia Lavery? Did she dance? She was raised with the CPYB, correct? Would have loved to see Zachary Hench dance, as it has been about 15 years! Also would have loved to see Ashley B. do Donizetti. Did Abi Stafford perform? Its the mom: was your daughter "born" into CPYB, or did she go there for a little bit after attending a different, previous school?
  5. Teresa Reichlin has such TINY SMALL feet!
  6. No...that's not Ashley Bouder, that's Maria Kowroski (in all white). Who's behind Wendy (to HER left)?
  7. Never even heard of the girl? Sorry no help here.
  8. Huh?! I'm a sportswriter and I see tons of athletes in "top cardiovascular shape" that are out of breath after physical activity. Being at "top cardiovascular shape" does not mean the athlete/dancer doesn't breathe hard and doesn't have to push themselves to get through the activity. And dancers are human, not machines. They are also individual. Not all dancers conceal the heavy breathing as well as another dancer. Watch a video tape of Darcey Bussell. You'll see her breath very hard after variations through an open mouth (I always figured she had nasal problems that prohibited her from breathing through her nose.) There's a reason Balanchine allowed the principals to stand on the side. Our eyes are supposed to be on the happenings in the middle of the stage, not the panting dancers. If you don't want to watch them pant, watch what's going on at the center of the stage. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thank you, Dale!!!!!!!! You stole the words right out of my mouth (or my fingers.) Even those in TIP TOP CARDIOVASCULAR SHAPE can have breathing issues...and keep an eye on the dancing: not the breathing status.
  9. Sorry to say this but the company was so much better last year. As a whole: the corps especially: had more energy, smiling from ear to ear, NOT lazy, and all in all, looked like a New York City Ballet CORPS DE BALLET. A job well done this year, just not as good as last year which is also ok.
  10. Exactly Oberon. If they wanted to use someone in not-so-much-make up just to pose there and look PRETTY, they should've used a Katie Bergstrom or a Saskia. Not just any tall blonde girl. Love the picture of Millepied, simple yet extraordinary. Now THAT'S what should be representing NYCB.
  11. Do not like the picture of Teresa Reichlen. Very bland. I think they should've used someone like Saskia Beskow. Sorry Teresa! As for Genevieve...beautiful!
  12. Can't wait to see NYCB this week in DC...will comment on performances later in the week.
  13. I miss watching Somogyi, Abi Stafford, Pascale, Genevieve Labean, Olivia Lavery, Amanda Hankes. COME BACK GIRLS!!!!!!!!!!!! Miss Samantha Allen as well. I also missed Edwaard Liang and am happy he is back. I am not looking forward to the retirements of Jock Soto & Peter Boal. Their presence onstage will be missed terribly and I hope all the men, especially younger, are watching their every move now, because they are the last Balanchine men left currently dancing in this company. I have been watching both for over 18 years and will never forget Jock's Stravinsky Violin Concerto and Peter Boal's amazing Apollo. Thank you both for all the glorious years! And yes I am happy for the return of Rebecca Krohn and the luminous Carla Korbes.
  14. Aesha Ash for me! and Margaret Tracey! and Eva Natanya!
  15. One that always sticks out to me is Dana Hanson. Beautiful technique and is reliable to give a good performance that is top-notch and enjoyable.
